Each price floats inside a live band: the floor is the lowest a supplier will sell at, the ceiling is the published API rate. Demand pushes the clearing price up toward the ceiling; slack pulls it back to the floor — re-priced continuously. Community-supplied capacity (Hive) always sits at least a cent under the direct API and shares spare capacity, never your data; when demand outruns it, traffic falls back to the direct API.
